The scope of this position is to design and develop new products, or new versions of old products, which our customers value. The primary measure of this position is the success with which our products distinguish us in the market and help achieve increasing goals for revenues, profits and cash flow.
The key dimensions of success in this position are speed and effectiveness in:
Perform mechanical, fluid, vibration, thermal and reliability analyses with guidance from senior staff to support new and existing designs.
Fabricate prototypes with assistance from junior staff and Engineering Support team.
Work with internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure producible designs (DFM).
Develop test methods and conduct characterization and engineering pre-verification testing.
Document designs by constructing CAD models and drawings using GD&T and stack-up analyses.
Analyze production test data to identify trends and implement corrective actions as needed.
Ensure pump performance meets customer requirements with approval and submission of test reports.
Address field complaints by determining root cause and implement corrective actions.
Support sustaining engineering efforts by the timely disposition of non-conforming material and resolve productivity issues with internal and external manufacturing partners.
Identify and establish new approaches and procedures.
Work with manufacturing to ensure product quality and performances is achieved.
Ability to create 3D models and dimensional drawings.
The ability to understand customer requirements and created viable solutions.
Measures and control of overall quality and cost of products.
Work with Defense Team to create manage and/or create engineering processes.
Performs analysis of new design concepts, adapts concepts for success and produces analysis reports.
Completes drawing checks and tolerance stack-ups, and champions the use and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Education & Experience
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
3-7 years’ experience as a Design Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
Must have 3D CAD experience. Preferred Solid Edge or Solidworks.
Must have a working understanding of GD&T dimensioning.
Ability to comprehend technical information including drawings, specifications and quality requirements is required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of ERP systems required; Proficiency in MS Office/Word/Excel is required
Must be able to meet tight deadlines, be detail oriented and highly organized.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Knowledge of Defense Industry and prior experience with DOD Contractor a plus.
Knowledge of pumps, valves and ship systems a plus.
Must be a US Citizen to meet US Defense requirements, and willingness to obtain a DOD clearance.
