Tax Manager

We are currently seeking a financial leader for our growing company as it serves the needs of our rapidly-expanding health care services client base. The Tax Manager will be responsible for working with the day-to-day income tax accounting. Main responsibilities include coordinating and compiling data with our third party tax preparers for quarterly and year-end tax provision; along with Federal and various State income tax returns. Additionally, Tax Manager will assist with unique tax research and accounting projects. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years Big-4 Accounting Firm experience and 3 to 5+ years corporate tax accounting experience. This position is based in Ensign Service Inc’s Mission Viejo, California Service Center.

  • Review the quarterly and yearly income tax provisions; including the reconciliation of tax accounts, return to provision analysis, uncertain tax position, etc.
  • Review Federal and State income tax returns prepared by third party tax preparer
  • Assist with various aspects of Federal & State income tax compliance.
  • Conduct technical research on various tax and accounting matters and prepare internal memoranda to document management’s conclusions. Monitor and communicate emerging tax laws, GAAP, and SEC regulations; research, analyze, and quantify any impact to company’s financial statements; maintain strong knowledge of the industry and business. 
  • Supervise and mentor tax professionals.
  • Ensure deadlines for income tax and financial reporting requirements are met 
  • Provide tax support to internal and external auditors as required;
  • Proactively develop tax analysis for leadership requests, and other initiatives
  • Assist with other ad-hoc project, such as new lines of business research and unique accounting transactions
  • Identify areas for improvement in the tax process, including sales and use tax, property tax  and implement process efficiencies
  • Prepare general ledger entries as needed to ensure completeness and accuracy of the financial results;
  • Review monthly reconciliation, for accuracy and existence, on selected balance sheets accounts;

Qualified candidates must have:

  • Advanced knowledge of Tax accounting (ASC 740) required.
  • Degree in Accounting
  • CPA 
  • 3-5 years Big 4 Accounting firm experience
  • 3-5 years of corporate tax accounting experience
  • Experience in a management role 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Strong computer skills are a must
  • Public Company Experience a plus
  • Healthcare background a plus
