The energy industry is undergoing rapid and dramatic changes, moving away from fossil fuels to alternative energy sources. At the same time, the risks posed by climate change and aging infrastructure requires an array of dynamic and innovative solutions to deliver resilient utility services. This energy transition is still in its early stages, and presents significant technical, logistical, and market challenges. Decarbonization will require detailed planning, multi-disciplinary collaboration, significant financial resources, and motivated staff to support successful implementation. Jacobs is expanding our Energy & Power team to tackle the complexities of decarbonization to deliver a cleaner and more secure energy future. 

By joining our team, as a T&D Project Manager we’ll help you harness your expertise as an innovator and technologist to develop strategies to solve our client’s challenging energy needs. As a Project Manager for electrical distribution projects, you’ll work closely across operations, sales, and technology functions providing leadership as we expand our energy transitions portfolio. You can be based anywhere in North America.

Your industry expertise in the transmission and distribution industry will be focused on developing and managing programs for power transmission and distribution projects. Responsibilities will include analyzing market opportunities, developing scope and fee estimates for proposals and leading production teams to develop construction document packages including required specifications and drawings that will be utilized for bidding and construction. Additional responsibilities will include project controls, scheduling and program financial management for large utility scale distribution study, engineering, and field planning projects.

Other responsibilities will include collaboration with global resources to develop an industry-leading transmission and distribution engineering design practice within the firm.

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Designation from the Project Management Institute (CAPM or PMP)
  • Project management experience in the delivery of utility plant and/or transmission and distribution projects 
  • Experience in the development of project scope, schedule, and fee documents
  • Experience in the development of project execution plans
  • Experience with contract negotiation and change management
  • Ability to direct a team of process engineers and designers in the production of design packages for utility-based clients
  • Successful track record of financial project management while meeting established project schedule and budget requirements 
  • Design services proposal experience, including development of scope and fee for utility projects
  • Ability to travel
