Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Dallas, TX

Pay: $30 to $50/hr

 *possible temp to hire

Schedule: Monday - Friday, Business hours

Job Description

The Financial Manager will responsible for several financial aspects of the Fund. This will require financial reporting on a timely basis, maintaining bank and other partnering institution relationships, cash management, budget preparation, contract review and approval, knowledge of retirement programs and coordination of annual audit process’.

The Financial Manager must have extensive government financial management experience and outstanding communications skills (written, oral and interpersonal). The applicant should have excellent project management ability, be able to interpret complex financial data concisely to a range of different audiences, be positive and solution oriented, and able to manage change in a growing organization. The applicant should be able to motivate staff, help establish realistic performance goals and evaluate staff for goal achievement, including compensation and responsibility enhancement. The ideal candidate has the highest level of integrity, an excellent work ethic, enjoys supervising and building a team, and has the ability to perform professionally and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.


  • General Oversight and Responsibilities Payroll:

  • Responsible for payroll process on a bimonthly basis for transmittal to payroll service

  • Prepare the bimonthly time sheet allocation and corresponding journal entry

  • followup with staff on outstanding time sheets

  • Review time sheets for errors and make any necessary corrections

  • Setup and train new employees on the time sheet system

  • Respond to any staff questions regarding time sheets or pay stubs

  • Reconcile the Quarterly Form 941 to the General Ledger

  • Accounts Payable:

  • Review Accounts Payable batch prepared by the A/P Senior Accountant for the following

  • Review the corporate journal entries and supporting documentation prepared by A/P Senior Accountant

  • Month End Close / Financial Reports:

  • Review vendor activity to ensure all monthly invoices have been received and processed

  • Review contract obligations to ensure all contract invoices have been received and processed

  • Record the release from restrictions revenue journal entry

  • Review all month end reconciliations and journal entries prepared by the A/P Senior Accountant

  • Perform various account reconciliations and work to resolve any discrepancies

  • Other duties / special projects as assigned

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five plus years experience in the accounting field

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or related field, CPA is required

  • High level knowledge of GASB for nonprofit accounting;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to extract meaning from numbers and present analysis clearly and concisely to people with widely varying degrees of financial knowledge;

  • Demonstrated experience and expertise with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications;

  • Working knowledge of GASB accounting standards

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)

  • Experience with pension accounting software desired
