POSITION SUMMARY


 



The Health Safety Officer (HSO) is part of the Constellis Mobile Response Team helping to deliver COVID vaccinations in Willkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The HSO will work with a clinical team of medical professionals and support staff from all of the COVID vaccination sites to develop and deliver training materials related to COVID-19 vaccinations.

 


 



Essential Duties and Responsibilities


This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.
  • Educates patients, staff, and public regarding COVID-19 vaccinations.
  • Develops and delivers educational materials regarding COVID-19 vaccinations including webinars, toolkits, pamphlets, training scenarios, guides, etc.
  • Utilizes patient-focused education delivery to promote best practices, compliance, and understanding of COVID-19, vaccinations, patient safety and public health.
  • Assists Vaccination Clinic Group Manager in developing working relationships with community partners and facilitates COVID-19 education integration and collaboration with local health industry (EMS, Hospital, Public Health, etc.).
  • Utilizes CDC education materials and company guidelines for training and education to administer vaccines according to best practices.
  • Utilizes CDC education materials and company guidelines for clinical training regarding specific vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer).
  • Organizes and plans a weekly road travel schedule to visit every Vaccination Team to conduct training and evaluate compliance with the training areas on patient safety, vaccine administration, and quality control.
  • Ensures the clinic and staff follow current guidelines, regulations, requirements and best practices on COVID-19 vaccination and mitigation practices.
  • Utilizes critical thinking techniques to solve problems in a fast-paced environment.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE requirements

  • Active clinical license: Registered Nurse (RN) required in the state of Pennsylvania
  • Bachelor's degree required / Master's degree preferred
  • Graduate degree in public health or clinical education preferred, including MPH, MPA, MSN (education).
  • Active Certification: BLS
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical education, public or community health role with demonstrated knowledge of public health education at the regional and/or state level.
  • Functional Spanish language preferred.
  • Ability to engage the public and develop/maintain good relations with local government, community, health industry and contracted agencies.
  • Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating health education programs, with specific knowledge of COVID-19, vaccine processes, requirements, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, policies, and procedures (OSHA, HIPAA, JCAHO, etc.) and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
  • Understanding of Wisconsin and CDC guidelines, requirements, recommendations and best practices on COVID-19 vaccine management and COVID-19 mitigation.
  • Completed CDC training and modules associated with COVID-19 and vaccine administration.
  • Ability to make independent decisions with informed judgment that requires critical thinking and minimal supervision.
  • High level of communication and time management skills with the ability to speak publicly (if necessary), communicate needs, and meet deadlines in a changing and adaptable schedule.
  • Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with Word, Excel, PDFs, video conferencing (Zoom, Teams, etc.), and Outlook.


Physical demands and environment

  • Work is typically based in an office environment and subject to frequent interruptions.
  • May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
