Job Description

As an Injection Molding Process Engineer, you are responsible for the process development and qualification of our mold assets following Gerresheimer’s SOP and procedures.

  • Execution of initial functional testing of injection molds
  • Development of injection molding processes with help of scientific techniques
  • Preparation, execution and analysis of experimental designs (DoE)
  • Accurate documentation of the complete processing phase
  • Execution of final qualification runs in production environment (clean room)
  • Participation in mold testing at external vendors
  • Establish process conditions through decoupled molding for new products.
  • Troubleshoot molding processes and material or equipment issues.
  • Evaluate tooling for areas of concern, areas of improvement for quality and efficiency, and recommend improvements to optimize molding, setup, and overall manufacturing.
  • Collect and analyze data on individual processes to identify and improve process capability.
  • Document and maintain mold process sheets for accuracy.
  • Support process technicians through training in scientific molding practices.
  • Leadership role in continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Use Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other techniques to analyze process data to determine capabilities as well as improvements.
  • Program robots and peripheral equipment.
  • Install and removal of molds (incl. water connections)
  • Additional items as needed to ensure smooth operation of the plant.


Qualifications

  • High School / College Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in injection molding.
  • A working knowledge and experience with injection molding and ancillary equipment
  • A working knowledge of a wide range of thermoplastic materials and their properties
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Experience working with different kind of resins
  • Deep understanding of injection molding process and technology
  • Experience with scientific molding approach
  • Experience in problem solving and trouble shooting of processes
  • Experience working in a hands-on environment with constant interaction with mold technicians, quality engineers and metrologists
  • Experience with statistical software MiniTab preferable
