Analytics Platform Architect Lead
What you will do
Johnson Controls is currently executing a multi-year program of work to further mature its data and analytics capabilities across the organization. This involves investment in the areas of cloud based infrastructure, data asset expansion, data management controls and data / analytics operating model.
We are looking for an experienced Analytics platform Architect lead to join our growing team. The role has a global focus and will lead the definition and implementation of analytic standards and solutions across our Big Data analytics landscape.
The role will report into the Director of Global Analytics COE and will form a key part of the analytics leadership team in shaping the direction and successful execution of Johnson Controls data strategy.
How you will do it
Work collaboratively with all levels of business stakeholders to architect, implement and test Big Data based analytical solution from disparate sources
Demonstrate an understanding of concepts, best practices and functions to implement a Big Data solution in an enterprise environment.
Design of scalable Big Data Analytical architectures and solutions
Translate business requirements into technical designs
Implement some or all of the big data systems in on-premise and distributed cloud environments
Well versed in modern open source technologies
Database, storage, and other back-end services in fully virtualized environments
Ensure scalability and high availability, fault tolerance, and elasticity within big data ecosystem
Collaborate with other resources around security, encryption, etc. for Big Data environments
Architect, Design and maintain high performing ELT/ETL Processes.
Monitoring, alerts, and automated recovery
Set architectural vision and direction across a matrix of teams
Directs and models the business, logical and physical framework and performs data modeling (dimensional, relational, star schemas, snowflake schema modeling with facts and dimensions) nuanced for big data platforms.
Demonstrate thought leadership and interpersonal skills
Passionate about leading, guiding and mentoring others
Establish automated, elastic scaling of cloud services, automated deployment and remediation
Explore and architect Data Warehouse Augmentation/Replacement Scenarios
Function as consultant/SME on different technologies making up the Big Data, EDW, BI, OLAP, OLTP and analytics technologies, capabilities and industry direction
Collaborate with business partners to drive adoption and optimization of the analytics platform
Defines Analytics standards, policies and procedures for the organization.
Identify and deliver infrastructure and process improvements based on analytics, metrics and skills
Maintains technical proficiency with Analytics best practices; specifically visualization, dashboards, business metrics, KPIs, reports, queries, search, predictive analytics, and master data management. Selects appropriate technology to enable measurement of enterprise, company, department, and individual strategic through tactical goals

What we look for
Bachelors or Master’s Degree in computer science, Information Systems or a related study, or equivalent experience.
10 years relevant experience architecting, developing, and/or managing the implementation of Business Intelligence / Analytics solutions
Ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements.
Ability to estimate the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.
Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems.
Experience and knowledge of Big Data Analytics
Proven track record of working in enterprise data management systems, especially ETL and EDW.
Deep understanding of data modeling and data architecting
Must have deep understanding of the Big Data Technologies such as Hadoop, NoSQL Databases, ETL/ELT, MDM & BI Tools.
Experience with Big Data software solutions such as Hortonworks, Spark, Kafka, Storm.
Hands-on experience with Azure Big Data stack – ADF, EventHub, ADB, SQL DW and AAS. Experience with Azure Cosmos is a plus.
Experience developing machine learning algorithms and training of models
Ability to lead initiatives and people toward common goals.
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and analytical skills
Project Management experience with agile and project management methodologies (Scrum and/or Kanban)
Ability to quickly learn new technologies, adapt to new environments, and function within a team
Mindset focused on following emerging technologies and ability to rapidly apply discovered concepts into business advancing applications
Proficiency in Java, SQL, Cascading and Linux shell
High level of ownership and accountability
Strong enterprise data management skills
Experience leading a team in the development of an enterprise data warehouse and analytics platform
