Position Overview: The Danbury Mission Technologies Engineering Directorate is seeking a Test Engineering Department Manager reporting to the Director of Engineering to provide technical oversight, direction, and vision to a high performing team of Test Engineers and Test Technicians. Strong functional management skills are needed to direct resource allocations to programs, drive technical excellence, strategic planning for large environmental test equipment capability growth, and to effectively resolve issues in a timely manner. You should be capable of working across a multi-functional Engineering management team as well as with a variety of program managers and their core team. Specific Requirements: In this position, you will be responsible for: * Execution of technical growth in product verification planning, test and test equipment development, and test execution for state-of-the-art satellite systems and defense systems
* All aspects of department personnel management, including performance reviews, employee development, problem resolution, staffing assignments, hiring and succession planning.
* Leading within a diverse team environment that fosters collaboration, innovation and initiative
* Continued integration of Test Engineering staff into the core integrated product team (IPT) structure
* Strategic and budgetary oversight for a large inventory of environmental test equipment assets
* Enabling critical thinking around new test technologies and approaches
* Strategic assignments targeting the long-term growth and health of the business
* Creating working relationships with business leaders to facilitate planning and problem resolution Travel Requirements: <10% Education Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related required, Masters preferred Experience Required: * Expertise with people management experience in a small to medium sized organization
* Testing of high reliability space hardware, including thermal, structural and electrical
* Familiarity with environmental test equipment
* Program IPT lead and chief engineer experience and success
* Successful management of significant financial budgets
* Communicating and documenting effectively
