The Sierra Vista Hospital location, a 171-bed psychiatric care facility located in south Sacramento, is a full-service mental health facility and a center of support for patients and their families. Since 1986, we have offered our clinical expertise to those suffering from emotional, behavioral and addiction problems.
We are seeking Recreation Therapists (Per Diem). The Recreation Therapist is responsible for the planning and implementing of services for the Recreation Therapy program. This includes conducting individual assessments, developing and implementing treatment goals, developing and facilitation of group therapy, participating as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, from an accredited college or university, in Recreation Administration, with a Therapeutic Recreation option.
Experience: One year (1), or more, of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.
Certification: Hold a current certification: Recreation Therapist Certified (RTC) and/or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), or be eligible to sit for exam and obtain certification within 1 year of working.
Additional requirements: CPR certification and successful completion of the hospital’s designated behavioral and physical management training program (CPI), including de-escalation and appropriate use of seclusion/restraint required prior to assisting in the procedures. You may be required to work overtime and/or flexible hours.
