Under the general supervision of the Director of Manufacturing, is responsible for directing, coordinating, and managing the overall plant operations. Assures that organizational or divisional production objectives are achieved at the lowest cost consistent with quality requirements. Delegates responsibility to key supervisors in production, materials, engineering, quality, human resources, cost accounting, maintenance, and other related operations. Plant Manager is authorized to allocate resources as needed in keeping with corporate and plant business plan initiatives, and the resources required to carry out the responsibilities defined in this job description.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates the execution of manufacturing schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity.
Controls quality, cost of production, warehousing, receiving, and shipping of raw materials through appropriate subordinates.
Confers with subordinates and other plant personnel on quality expectations and procedures and production standards, efficiency and standards, and adherence to safety programs. Reviews all recommendations for special machinery, and works closely with product and process engineering on program changes.
Determines plant policies consistent with organization or division policies and directs and supervises the application of such policies to the plant's manufacturing operations.
Will represent the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing TS 16949 requirements for Corrective and Preventive Actions.
Participates in long-range plant expansion, conversion, and equipment planning.
Oversees the maintenance of buildings and equipment, and plant security and protection.
Reviews and approves recommendations of subordinates in matters of personnel or rate changes.
Ensures an effective EMS / ISO 14001 program through assigning responsibilities and authorities and periodic review, per the ISO 14001 standard.
Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFACTIONS REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in business or operations preferred, and ten (10) years’ experience in a related field, preferably with an automotive supplier.
MAJOR PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee will be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor. Will be required to exert up to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally.
Represents the organization in the community and promotes the organization's goodwill and interests in community activities.
Normal office environment. On occasion, may be subject to plant conditions such as loud noise due to operating machinery, physical hazards from operating or moving equipment, and breathing fumes, dust, or mist.
