JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and air crews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges. JT4 is dedicated to being the nation's premier provider of joint test, tactics, training, and technology support. We provide engineering and technical support to multiple test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract II, better known as J-Tech II. Together we develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments as we prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB SUMMARY


- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

JT4 is recruiting Electronics Technicians with varying levels of experience and an array of job skills. Working within a radar Operations and Maintenance group you will be responsible for operations and maintenance on several different radars. We are looking for technicians who work well in both operational and maintenance roles and will also be called upon to assist engineering efforts as new technologies are incorporated into existing systems. SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS/DUTIES This position requires the following abilities which are usually performed within an electronics lab but occasionally in the field:
  • Operate radars and other electronic equipment on a daily basis.
  • Maintain, sustain, and troubleshoot and repair analog and digital equipment used in radar transmitters, receivers, timing assemblies, data collection, and RF and digital transmission lines.
  • Construct electronic and RF chassis using industry standard fabrication techniques for wiring and packaging. GENERAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES Operations and maintenance technician, working under direct supervision of a group lead or higher-level technician, who specializes in ground-based electronic systems.
  • Works on various types of electronic equipment and related devices by performing a combination of the following: installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, construction and testing.
  • Operates and maintains electronic transmitting and receiving equipment, digital and analog computers, industrial measuring and controlling equipment, microwave amplifiers and transmission lines, high-voltage power supplies and keying circuits, indicators and displays, and antenna positioning systems.
  • Applies technical knowledge of electronic principles to solve basic problems using diagrams, schematics, engineering data and test equipment.
  • Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and effects repairs to restore equipment to required operating condition. Manipulates computer keyboards and views and interprets computer displays.
  • Troubleshoots to the component level and makes needed repairs.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned or requested. EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE Education and/or training from an accredited college or technical school with courses in math, basic electronics, and microwave theory or a military equivalent is required. ISCET certification may be required. Demonstrated proficiency in general electronics and good understanding of electronic, electro-mechanical, and computer systems along with test equipment used to maintain and repair equipment is necessary. Experience with tubes, transistors, logic gates, and/or high-power RF devices may be required. At least 3 years of hands-on experience is required. Successful candidates will have the demonstrated ability to troubleshoot to the component level and competency in soldering. Incumbent will be required to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and must have a valid, current state driver's license.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet. Outdoor duties may be performed on gravel or shingled roof. Climbing stairs, ladders, towers, and scaffolds, indoors or outdoors, is required. Government vehicle is used on an as-needed basis. Grease or oil may be found on working surfaces. Ability to work in a field environment with some shift work, at remote locations with occasional overnight assignments. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Travel to remote working locations may be required. Within a radius of a four to five hour drive there are Los Angeles and San Diego offering shoreline activities or other fantastic attractions, and Utah and Northern Arizona offering remote mountainous splendors at the other end of the spectrum.
