Are you an expert Lead Tooling Engineer with experience in both plastic and metal molds? Our client is seeking an energetic engineer with a strong background in mold tooling, focused on plastic mold design strategy and technology. This engineer will supervise mold design, improve processes, oversee purchasing, and manage quality verification, while mentoring and inspiring a team. What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and implement strategies to advance tooling production targets.
  • Collaborate with company production and engineering groups to promote effective tooling creation and production.
  • Administer new tooling projects.
  • Supervise the tooling repair team.
  • Ensure that large presses and advanced equipment are compatible with large-scale, complex machinery tooling and operations.
  • Create, maintain, and ensure accurate documentation for tooling and related processes.
  • Make recommendations for improvements based on data analysis.
  • Work with vendors to ensure supply, reliability, and quality.
  • Stay up to date with technologies for improving mold repair, maintenance, and construction of new and existing molds and to promote continuous improvement.


What You'll Bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 15 or more years of experience in Injection molding, focused on tool design.
  • 10 or more years leading and managing people.
  • Strong working knowledge of injection molding, extrusion, blow mold, thermoform, various polymers, and relevant processes in a high-capacity production environment.
  • Hands-on experience in mold design, construction, and repair is essential for success in this role.
  • Expertise working with large-scale, high-tonnage presses and machinery.
  • Proficiency with 3D modelling software, Moldflow software analysis, and working with various materials. SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Expertise with cold- and hot-runner manifold systems.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills, and superior interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff, vendors, and clients.
  • At ease with presentations, technical reports, and situational analysis.
  • Weekly travel is at times a critical requirement for success in this role.
