Responsibilities

2nd Shift Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Lead and coordinate the activities of other associates in the maintenance department on 2nd shift.  Perform work involving the skills of two or more maintenance or craft occupations to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair. Duties may involve pipe fitting; insulating;  welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical  equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment and CNC machinery; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs.

  • Leads associates in following all safety regulations for the individual as well as other employees, including keeping the work area clean and in orderly condition as well as wearing all appropriate safety attire for the job that is being performed. 
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods in the maintenance department using EAM system. 
  • Train and certify forklift operators, as well as the training of new associates. 
  • Confer with supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments. 
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training. 
  • Observe work, and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards. 
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment. 
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. 
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists. 
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. 
  • Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment. 
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary. 
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions. 
  • Record maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work. 
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. 
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools. 
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports, in order to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs. 
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. 
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. 
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or other issues. 
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers. 
  • Perform safety repairs throughout the building. 
  • Perform various facility maintenance throughout the building. 
  •  Respond to hazardous waste incidents or releases due to release of hazardous waste or hazardous materials until HAZMAT officials arrive on the scene.

Basic Qualifications

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Industrial Maintenance Technical Degree preferred.

 EXPERIENCE:

Four years of general maintenance experience and electrical/electronics experience with computerized numerical control.

TOOLS:

Hand tools, voltage meters, power tools, diagnostic tools.

EQUIPMENT/MACHINES:

Man lift, forklifts.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

High degree of skill required in operating machine tools, welding, carpentry and electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical applications.

 CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

Forklift operator license, and ability to become HAZWOP certified (training provided at facility).
