Eaton’s Fuel and Motion Control Systems division, a part of our Aerospace Group, is currently seeking a Senior Engineering Specialist - Electromechanical Actuation Systems to join our team. This position can be remote or based out of one of the following locations: Grand Rapids, MI; Jackson, MS; Euclid, OH; Fort Worth, TX; Los Angeles, CA; or Irvine, CA offices. Position Overview: The Senior Engineering Specialist - Electromechanical Actuation Systems provides expertise input and guidance to designs and development of competitive electromechanical actuation system solutions, including secondary flight control, thrust reverser actuation systems, and complex utility actuation systems. In this function you will: Lead Technical Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the development new or upgrade existing actuator systems and products for aerospace applications by driving the team to program milestones, design integrity and ensuring a high-level of engineering discipline. Develop and manage requirements and specifications for the system and its components Ensure that potential synergies between the divisional, group, and global engineering sites are identified. Plan the design, analysis and verification activities for new product developments, prepare engineering proposals for new or changed scope research and technology projects by compiling, preparing and providing technical data, and lead internal Gate Reviews for research/ technology and Core product development projects. Present research and technology project status and pivot recommendations as appropriate to Eaton and Customer Senior Leadership. Implement voice of the customer and voice of the market into technology roadmaps and product/technology development plans. Deliver on program milestones by estimating task durations, identify resource needs and track tasks to closure. Drive engineering discipline with regards to first pass yield, on-time delivery and design in accordance with Eaton standards. Manage assigned tasks and team tasks to meet schedule and budget. Support development of architecture and functional description of products or systems being developed. Oversee development testing and review engineering test data to ensure product requirement compliance. When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university Minimum of nine (9) years of engineering experience Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in the aerospace industry Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution. Requirement management experience using DOORS and/or JAZZ Analytical skills appropriate to mechanical kinematics for actuation systems, initial sizing of actuator products, motor sizing requirements, and/or control system electrical architecture. Knowledge of systems engineering processes (e.g. SAE ARP 4754A, ARP4761, DO-254 and/or DO-178) Knowledge of data bus interface protocols Aeronautical Radio Incorporated e.g. ARINC 825(CAN), ARINC 664 (AFDX), ARINC 629 Experience presenting at internal and external technical reviews Prior supplier management experience Experience utilizing MatLab/Simulink and/or AMESim Prior CATIA and/or Enovia experience Design for Six Sigma/Lean Certifications Position Criteria: Knowledge of aerospace safety reliability and maintainability process and practices Knowledge of civil aviation regulations governing system design Professional manner and ability to work well with customers Experience presenting as subject matter expert at internal and external technical and commercial reviews. Excellent communication skills– both verbal and written with ability to make necessary status reports Organizational and planning skills Regular attendance and continuous improvement efforts are required. Extended hours may be required to meet critical milestones. Professional manner and ability to work well with customers Ability to lead projects at multiple locations Major and stranger repeater project Ability to travel internationally (<25%) in support of design reviews, Non-Advocate Reviews, customer, and supplier visits. Ability to present complex technical systems data to audience of varying technical knowledge Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices.
