Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center is currently seeking an experienced Infection Preventionist

to join their amazing, hard working team!

The Infection Preventionist II (IP II) is a professional who functions under the Infection Prevention Manager, Director/ED/AVP of Safety and Quality or Executive Director of Infection Prevention. Responsibilities include hospital surveillance and associated activities, public reporting, education of patients and team members and mentoring the Infection Preventionist.

Responsibilities include but not limited to: surveillance activities to identify healthcare associated infections, develop interventions to decrease and/ or eliminate healthcare associated infections and improve patient outcomes, managing time efficiently including meeting system deadlines for monthly submission of data, NHSN submission, etc. Assist with the development of policy and procedures in conjunction with the WellStar system. Participate in the Value Analysis product/procedure/practice evaluation). Create and participate in education of staff as needed, Champion a performance Improvement project annually, Identification and investigation of Infection clusters or outbreaks. Reporting of state reportable organisms/diseases as appropriate. Routinely audits clinical areas for compliance with Infection Prevention best practices. Assist with implementing changes mandated by regulatory and licensing agencies as appropriate. Collaborates with Occupational Health with Employee health activities.

Required Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare related field, required.

Required Minimum Certification:

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC)

Required Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in infection prevention practice is required.
