Job Description


The Controller of Facility Based Operations is responsible for overseeing the finance and accounting departments of the facility based service line of the Company, including working directly with facility based operational leadership to drive operating results. The Controller of Facility Based Operations also manages accounting personnel who are directly responsible for analyzing and communicating operating results to field managers as necessary to properly operate the business.

Additional Details

  • Improve the profitability of the facility based operations. Continually monitor costs in all areas, especially multi-location staffing levels as it relates to patient volume.
  • Actively participate in the annual budget process as related to the operating budgets for the facility based service line
  • Actively participate in monthly operations review meetings
  • Review weekly projections and provide feedback and support for forecasted numbers
  • Maintain excellent communication with supervisor, operations management personnel and home office personnel
  • Develop and monitor policies and procedures within generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduced hospital operating costs, and increased revenues.
  • Lead the process for financial analysis and proforma creation for potential acquisitions
  • Supervise accounting for all facility based operating entities, ensuring financial statements are accurate, complete and timely
  • Maintain controls in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley program, updating control changes and supporting audits of those controls
  • Supervise and evaluate accounting staff for facility based operations. Determine staffing needs and lead the interview process and selection of new hires
  • Develop analytical testing to analyze and corroborate financial accounts to support procedures required by the Company’s independent audit firm
  • Ensure that all significant general journal entries for facility based operating entities are reviewed and that proper support is maintained
  • Review variance analyses supporting the accuracy of income statement accounts for facility based operating entities
  • Oversee review procedures to ensure the accuracy of all facility based operating entities balance sheet accounts. Review support, analyses as needed
  • Support SEC Reporting with financial statements, schedules and support workpapers
  • Participate in periodic evaluations of accounting department personnel
  • Review and provide schedules and work papers as requested by external auditors
  • Adhere to all departmental policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as requested


Education & Experience Requirements:
    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • Certified Public Accountant designation or MBA preferred
    • At least 5 years professional experience in a hospital or healthcare environment or at least 7 years’ experience in an accounting setting
    • 3+ years supervisory experience

  • Ability to organize thoughts and data effectively and to be able to implement creative and strategic solutions in a fast paced environment. Must have strong decision making abilities and fortitude to see decisions to fruition.
  • Self-motivated and independent
  • Ability to identify operating problems and opportunities and bring resolution to those matters
  • Must possess excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to meet important deadlines and that cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
