Senior Grant Administrator

Beacon Hill Chicago, IL (Onsite) Full-Time
$45.00 - $50.00/Hour

Beacon Hill has partnered with a reputable university in hiring a Senior Research Administrator to start immediately. This is a contract role for 3-6 months. Our client is open to hybrid or full remote candidates.

Responsibilities:

  1. Research Project Coordination:
  • Assist with the planning, implementation, and administration of research projects within the institution.
  • Monitor the progress of research activities, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and administrators to align research goals with institutional objectives.
  • Grant Management:
    • Identify and secure external funding opportunities for research projects.
    • Assist with writing grant proposals, including budget preparation and compliance with funding agency guidelines.
    • Manage post-award processes such as financial tracking, reporting, and ensuring that research expenditures align with grant agreements.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:
    • Ensure all research activities comply with ethical standards, legal requirements, and institutional policies.
    • Coordinate Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes for human subject research, including submission of applications and monitoring.
    • Ensure compliance with data privacy laws (e.g., FERPA in the U.S.) and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Financial Management:
    • Oversee the budgeting and financial aspects of research projects, ensuring that funds are allocated properly and effectively.
    • Track expenditures and prepare financial reports for principal investigators, departments, and funding agencies.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact between researchers, funding agencies, and institutional departments.
    • Facilitate communication between researchers and external partners, including collaborators, sponsors, and regulatory bodies.
    • Organize meetings, workshops, and presentations to disseminate research findings and foster collaboration.
  • Data Management:
    • Help researchers manage data collection, storage, and analysis processes.
    • Ensure proper handling of research data, including data security and compliance with applicable laws.
    • Support researchers with data sharing and publishing processes.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare progress reports, final reports, and other documentation for funding agencies, institutional leaders, and other stakeholders.
    • Maintain accurate records of research activities, contracts, and correspondence related to research projects.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in education, administration, or a related field. Additional training in research administration or project management is often preferred.
    • Experience: Experience in research administration or project management, particularly in an academic or educational environment, is highly valued.
    • Skills:
      • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication.
      • Knowledge of research methods, ethical standards, and regulatory compliance.
      • Experience with budgeting, financial management, and grant writing.
      • Familiarity with relevant software tools, such as Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and research management platforms.
