This position is Contingent Upon Contract Award

Purpose: The Senior IT Cable Plant Installation Technician will support the buildup and modernization of DoD facilities. This task involves providing Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I)/Information Technology (IT) electronic systems equipment, infrastructure, engineering, design, installation, and Supply and Warehouse support. Services required include design, installation, termination, testing, and documentation of desktop devices, peripherals, IT cable plant, rack, and power distribution units for the installation of C4I/IT electronic systems and equipment, as assigned and in accordance with government installation design plans (IDP). The work is conducted within existing classified office spaces, IT data centers, IT telecommunications spaces, or other designated areas for C4I/IT electronics systems equipment and newly constructed secure buildings.

Pay: $30.00 hourly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential duties include the following:

  1. Conduct rack installation and cabling of electronic equipment and infrastructure in support of various communications systems equipment.
  2. Pull, terminate, and dress all Ethernet SM/MM and fiber optic cabling to MPO/MTP.
  3. Install, test, and document the installation of cable, cable conveyances, IT equipment, antennas, and supporting systems in accordance with Installation Development Plan (IDP).
  4. Ensure required technical abilities are maintained.
  5. Contribute to all phases of the IT and AV infrastructure installation or upgrade.
  6. Install racks/cabinets/credenzas and all peripheral equipment.
  7. Install patch cabling in Telecommunication Closets and between MUTOA and Enterprise end-user computing devices (EEUCD) in open office areas as specified in the Master Cabling Table.
  8. Update and maintain all design documents by marking all “as-built” changes during the course of installation.
  9. Produce and install for each installed cable, computer-generated labels to be placed at both ends of each cable.
  10. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with network infrastructure, often requiring coordination with other disciplines: networking, facilities, HVAC, electrical, security, etc.
  11. Conduct required Pre-Installation Test and Checkout (PITCO) activities.
  12. Conduct tests and document results of cables, equipment, and materials.
  13. Perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed.
  14. Perform demolition and disposal of network and power infrastructure.
  15. Support daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description, and supervisor’s instruction to maximize personal output.
  16. Be receptive to all training made available by the company for self-development.
  17. Maintain equipment accountability and keep the work area neat and orderly for safety.
  18. Report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources.
  19. Correct any unsafe conditions to the best of ability.
  20. Integrate CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including commitment to integrity, quality of work, initiative, and positive communication skills.

COMPLIANCE: Promote and encourage a culture of compliance with all applicable rules (federal, state, local, FAR, CFR, etc.) for themselves and the company. Foster an environment to report any violations or reasonably suspected violations of CNI policy, FAR, and/or CFR.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree, technical certification, and/or a minimum of five (5) years of related experience supporting cabling, equipment, and IT network systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair. Minimum three (3) years of experience in using Microsoft Office.

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION: TS required, SCI preferred. Highly recommended: BICSI Installer 2 Certification (Fiber and/or Copper).

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES: Operational knowledge of Personal Computer Systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Comprehensive knowledge of construction, service maintenance, and operation procedures of IT and AV related systems and equipment. Command of IT equipment assembly and testing. Possess and effectively utilize problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create and interpret a variety of technical materials. Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and technical directives. Ability to supervise and execute scheduled tasks individually and within a team environment. Willingness and ability to learn new concepts and techniques. Ability to travel to client worksites within a 50-mile radius from the home duty station.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond
