Senior Systems Administrator

Duties may include but are not limited to activities such as design, engineering, implementing and maintaining systems, system security and data recovery processes, providing technical support, utilizing automation tools for delivering applications, managing assets, monitoring performance, event notifications and automating desktop support.
In addition to the expert technical knowledge and skills, a SA must exhibit excellent communication skills. Often working in a team environment with clients and other IT personnel, a system administrator must coordinate and communicate activities, status updates, outage notifications and schedule information.
A System Administrator must provide proactive customer-oriented service. Specifically, a SA must:
•Provide professional service within the parameters specified in the sites service level agreement and/or that meet or exceed the customer requirements
•Maintain expert skill set required to do job
•Maintain an awareness of trends within the technology industry
•Design, engineer, Install, configure, administer and optimize servers (hardware and operating systems)
•Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory and/or LINUX Network Operating Systems
A System Administrators main technology emphasis should be to:
•Install, configure network printing devices
•Install, configure and maintain network applications and application distribution systems
•Ensure system security in compliance with customer policy including virus protection
•Implement and maintain network standards and guidelines
•Monitor system utilization including data storage management, performance metrics and service levels
•Ensure reliable backup and recovery of necessary data
•Develop and maintain an automated environment including reporting, event notifications and actions, software updates and service packs
•Conduct Security Evaluation and Testing for systems for Certification and Accreditation.
•Create, maintain and update Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) for various systems/LANs.
•Coordinate with ISSOs for mitigating vulnerabilities included in the POA&M
•Review, monitor and implement DISA STIGs.
#I2S BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and ten (10) to fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system science discipline and four (4) to seven (7) years of progressive experience.
•6 years of experience Vmware vSphere, ESXI, Vcloud suite, Vmware vCenter
•6 years of experience maintaining Enterprise Storage and backup solutions
•Experience with DISA STIGs in VMware software
CompTIAs CASP, or CISSP (must obtain within 6 months)
Microsoft MCSA, MCSE (must obtain within 6 months)
(VCP) Vmware Certified Professional (must obtain within 6 months)
Secret Clearance required.
Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Other physical requirements may include directing and participating in training exercises outside the classroom.
Equipment and Machines
General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Work assignments dependent on requirements by the client. Training and training support may be required on nights, holidays, and weekends as dictated by the published training schedule.

Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Grooming and dress usually business casual, but dependent on clients standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
