Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. (LMFT)
One year of experience as a LPC, CSW, or LMFT This position provides Substance Use and Mental Health care to a special population of inmates housed in the Colorado Department of Corrections with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities and high risk for suicide and self-injury.
Assigned case load will consist primarily of inmates with moderate to high substance use and mental health treatment needs.
Develop Substance Use and Mental Health treatment plans to serve as the basis for treatment;
Provide individual and group therapy for Substance Use and Mental Health treatment needs;
Perform routine mental health assessments and interviews to determine progress.
Update diagnosis and psychiatric needs levels;
Refer clients for diagnostic clarification and/or for recommendations if presentation is complex or not responding to interventions/accommodations;
Provide information to psychiatry to include client history, previous diagnoses, and alternative treatment available;
Assure both emergency and non-emergency transfer for inmates experiencing acute mental health crisis;
Render clinical direction to non-clinical staff in mental health care and treatment of inmates;
Assure continuity of care for inmates by making appropriate referral and providing necessary information and documentation for transition to receiving units, facilities, or agencies;
Collaborate with Mental Health supervisor to schedule psychiatric clinics;
Participate in cross training on Mental Health and crisis assessment to support facility operational needs. Minimum Qualifications
Valid, active license from the State of Colorado as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist AND One year of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Marriage and Family Therapist. Experience must be with the mental health and/or sex offender population. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing mental health counseling in a State of Colorado correctional environment;
- Possession of a valid, active certification from the State of Colorado as a Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS) or a valid, active license from the State of Colorado as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC). 9
- One year of full-time licensed experience as a Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS), or a License Addiction Counselor (LAC).
- Correctional mental health counseling and crisis intervention experience;
- Experience conducting suicide risk assessments;
- Experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team
