Position Overview
The ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Program Controller will be responsible for all aspects of financial management over the ERP Program, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, capex reporting and audit support.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Month End Close Process:
- Support month-end and year-end close process, including monthly debt statement journals and month end general ledger entries.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Cost Tracking and Analysis:
- Monitor and record all relevant cost data, including labor, professional fees, overhead, and other expenses.
- Proficient in analyzing cost variances between actual costs and budgeted costs, investigating and explaining significant discrepancies through in-depth conversations with workstream leads.
- Prepare regular cost reports, highlighting key findings and trends for project team review (run rates).
- Allocate costs appropriately across workstreams based on established methodologies and supporting documentation.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data for accurate cost allocation.
- Reporting:
- Prepare and present month end reports to management, offering clear and concise explanations of financial data.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances across the various workstreams to support the overall program.
- Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing insights into expected costs and cost drivers.
- Capex reporting:
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly capital reporting, in accordance with CRH Group Policy and FASB Capitalization requirements.
- Responsible to maintain supporting documentation for all proposed capital expenditures required for audit purposes.
- Scenario Planning:
- Work across teams to assess impact of “Big Rocks” and other various scenarios that will either impact or integrate with ERP Program solutions.
- Develop financial projections based on various scenarios.
- Process Improvement:
- Develop and document governance processes over Project financial reporting.
- Identify opportunities to improve project financial tracking to enhance accuracy and efficiency, including automation where possible.
- Variance Analysis:
- Perform in-depth variance analysis to identify reasons for deviations from budgeted costs.
- Communicate findings to stakeholders and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Compliance and Audit:
- Manage technical accounting research for compliance issues.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations in cost accounting practices.
- Assist with internal and external audits related to cost data and processes.
- Oversee and support project team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
- Manage ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance
- CPA and/or MBA a plus
- Expert proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards
Work Requirements
- Minimum travel required – up to 10%
- Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
- Detail oriented with the ability to translate details into relevant executive summaries.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Action oriented, drive for results and ability to facilitate change.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations, to senior management.
