OR/Surgery Charge Nurse
Reporting to the Director of Perioperative services, the Charge Nurse is responsible for assess and planning for current and daily staff needs by acuity, hours of care, and matrix directly and through education of others. The Charge Nurse will collaborate with staff to ensure effective clinical practice, proactive customer service principles with peers, and other departments, patients, family, and medical staff. The candidate will direct the flow of patient care and monitors staff’s ability to manage the patient population assigned and creates an environment to enhance their success. The Charge Nurse will also serve as a role model for Service Excellence behaviors that will be exhibited through the department as standard. Additionally, the Charge Nurse will supervise delegated care based on abilities and limitations of health care personnel and patient acuity; adjusts delegated assignments as deemed necessary.
Essential Job Duties:
The Charge Nurse will identify inter-/intra-departmental problems; develops plan to resolve issues, implements and evaluates plan with assistance and approval of Director/Manager. Actively participates in chart review, skill competencies, peer evaluation process and collection of other data for the RN performance appraisal as well as assists in the collection of data and participates in the annual staff performance appraisal.Job Requirements
Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse Program
Three (3) years in area of specialty to be supervised
Registered Nurse with current California RN license
Current BLS Certification
Current ACLS certification
