Schedule/Shift: FT, 1.0 Day Shift: Days
The Health Care Program Analyst is assigned theresponsibility of providing analytical and program support to the TraumaService.
The HealthCare Program Analyst performs complex analytical work and ensures accurate dataabstraction. Overseas all data validation activities, manages and conductsongoing registry development and updates, and provides technical assistance tothe trauma registrars to maintain the requirements for a Level I or  II Trauma Center in Santa Clara County. TheHealth Care Program Analyst collaborates with the Trauma Medical Director,Trauma Program Director, and other County, Regional, State and Nationalorganizations to provide statistical reports and analyze data essential to theTrauma Services Performance Improvement P rogram (PIPs), strategic planning,and business development activities.
Minimum:  Trauma Registrar (CSTR) certification required.  Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certificationpreferred.
Minimum:  Working knowledge of medical terminology andanatomy acquired through an accredited program. Medical Records, ICD9 and ICD10 coding, Abbreviated Injury Scoring (AIS), Injury Severity Scoring (ISS),HIPAA requirements and regulation. , Knowledge of statistical analysis andconcepts with previous experience utilizing and managing a Trauma registrydatabases.
Experiencewith Trauma One by Lancet Technology preferred.
Minimum:   Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. AmericanTrauma Society Registrar Basic and/or advanced course completion.
Preferred:  AAAM Coding course completion.  Successful completion of college anatomy andphysiology course.
Minimum:Basic computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software programs.Data base management and general medical records. Basic anatomy.  Medical terminology.  Produces highly precise, detailed orientedwork with demonstration of follow-through, organizational skills,reprioritizing work to meet the demands of the department while maintainconfidentiality. Is able to work in a demanding environment, and solve problemswith effective solutions.  Has excellent communicationand interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with otherco-workers.
Preferred:  Advanced computer skills.  Including Microsoft – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Working knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD 10 coding,AIS and ISS scoring.  Must be able toperform statistical analysis. Successfully complete ATS Trauma Registrarcertification when eligible and maintains certification.
