Overview

Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN) is dedicated to advancing cancer care by leading and participating in many clinical research studies in Nevada that test the safety and efficiency of new or modified treatments in cancer patients. These trials are important because they help uncover new treatment options and give many of our patients the opportunity to receive newly developed treatments or investigational drugs not yet available outside the study.

CCCN develops and conducts more than 170 Phase I, Phase II and Phase III clinical research trials each year including genitourinary and gastrointestinal cancer treatments, radiation clinical trials, breast cancer and skin cancer. Motivated, caring professional are encouraged to join us.

Career Opportunity:
Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Clinical Research Assistant, on-site at our Twain clinic in Las Vegas, Nevada. This person works closely with the entire research department and some of the best physicians in their fields to develop and coordinate new and on-going clinical trials and provide cutting edge care to patients in a successful health care organization.

SCOPE:

Under direct supervision, initiates and/or maintains accurate and current logs of all patients referred for participation in clinical research. Collects data from initial patient contact through course of therapy and long-term follow-up. Performs all clerical and administrative data management functions for the department. May assist with direct patient care, laboratory services, and maintenance of supplies duties as they relate to Clinical Research. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains patient data files in an organized manner for easy retrieval and review
  • Collects patient data from initial patient contact through course of therapy, rehabilitation, and long–term care
  • Enters all pertinent data in computer system in a timely manner as outlined by department guidelines
  • Generates custom reports to review patient progress and to be used for research and marketing purposes
  • Maintains patient data files in an organized manner for easy retrieval and review
  • Reports data to company Clinical Research network and applicable local, state, and federal accrediting bodies and/or agencies
  • Assists with scheduling consultations, diagnostic tests or procedures, and future appointments for patients with physicians as requested
  • Prepares patient records for audits by regulatory, accrediting, and research organizations
  • May assist physicians and nurses with direct patient care including vital signs and assisting in procedures
  • Follow patient to collect biopsy specimens from various facilities where the procedures are scheduled
  • May assist with collecting and processing specimens for research purposes
  • Maintains supplies, drugs, and storage facilities for clinical research as appropriate

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one-year medical office experience, oncology preferred
  • Experience in Microsoft Office with computer data entry and database management
