Responsible for utilizing small hand tools, electrical testing devices, meters, meg-ohmmeters as required to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems such as motor control systems, low voltage power systems, medium voltage power systems, transformers, lighting systems and safety devices. Troubleshoot PLC control circuits, I/O drops and communication systems.
- Accountable for personal safety, promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.
- Promote an environment in which everyone is treated with respect.
- Perform and document maintenance, calibration, installation, fault diagnosis, and repair of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic instruments and systems
- Calibrate, troubleshoot and repair plant instrumentation i.e., transmitters, analyzers, control valves, switches, relays, etc.
- Inspect, repair, and replace transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, and electrical systems
- Maintain files, logs and drawings for all designated instrumentation and electrical equipment
- Maintain instrumentation and electrical spare parts inventory to maintain plant reliability
- Understand Piping and Instrument Diagrams, Signal Flow Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams, Panel Drawings, One‐Line Drawings, Loop Sheets, and Wire Lists
- Maintain various process gas analyzers daily that are used in the operations process
- Execute scheduled work by:
- Reviewing assigned job scopes for completeness and understanding.
- Acquiring all necessary parts, tools, and instructions prior to starting the job to maximize work efficiency.
- Following all necessary safety procedures and practices to isolate, clear, and work on plant equipment.
- Ensuring work is completed per company and industry standards.
- Working with production and safety department to complete task in a safe and timely manner.
- Updating supervisor on job progress and any problems encountered in completing the defined scope of work.
- Respond to tasks as directed by control room operators and E/I supervision with the appropriate sense of urgency to minimize impact to process units.
- Participate in investigations, policy and procedure development, and improving the work place environment.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as an E&I Technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment, OR 1 year experience with a minimum of an associate degree in an electrical/electronic related study, OR a bachelor’s degree in an electrical/electronic related study.
- Testing or demonstration of technical skills may be performed during the hiring process to ensure minimum requirements are met
- Must have a working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, electrical drawings and industry switching practices.
- Must be willing and able to provide overtime coverage
- Must be willing and able to work plant call-outs
- Must be willing to work with hazardous and/or flammable chemicals (with proper safety precautions, training and equipment)
- Must be willing to work around and/or manually interact with heavy equipment
- Must be willing and able to work outside, year round under various weather conditions
- Must be willing and able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Must be willing and able to work in environments that require frequent bending, reaching, and lifting
- Must be willing and able to work in tight or confined spaces
- Must be willing able to work at heights above 25 feet by climbing stairs and vertical ladders
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator
- Cement Manufacturing -- Knowledge of raw materials, methods, and the tools involved in the mining, production, shipping and packaging of cement.
- Mechanical -- Knowledge of equipment used, machines and tools, including their uses, repair of, and maintenance.
- Engineering and Technology -- Knowledge of the practical application of the technology used and manufacturing of cement. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of cement.
- Environmental – Knowledge of proper allocation of waste material.
Physical Requirement/Working Conditions:
- Ability to safely work in an outdoor environment with frequent exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise.
- Ability to perform tasks that include frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing equipment, and working within confined spaces to access and inspect equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
