Lead Cert Central Sterile Tech
Responsible for all aspects of the reprocessing of reusable instrumentation and supplies. Ensures sterile items are delivered to the right place, at the right time, in the right condition and is the right item. Sterile processing includes Decontamination, Preparation, Sterilization, and Storage of processed items. Responsible for monitoring, testing, and record maintenance of the processes.
Responsible for leading and supporting staff, overseeing the decontamination, assembly and sterilization process of all instruments, inventory of supplies, training of new staff members, and assisting with the coordination of maintenance.
Reports broken equipment, instruments, and patient safety issues to the management team immediately. Implements the repair process of equipment as necessary with proper notification to management.
Evaluates the out of service instruments on a daily basis and communicates appropriately to the SPD and OR Management.
Assist with establishing and overseeing the coordination of the turn over is required for surgical cases.
Is fully trained in all operational aspects of SPD and capable off assisting in the department as needed.
Assist with the training of staff members on instrument processing.
Conducts daily spot checks as outlined by the Supervisor and/or QA Manager.
Inventories materials and supplies on a daily basis to insure adequate quantities are available for operations.
Performs duties in accordance with the hospital, JCAHO, AORN, and other appropriate policies and procedures.
Performs other duties that may be assigned.
Reports to: System Director Surgical Services
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Minimum Education
High School Graduate, GED or equivalent
Required Skills
Must be certified in the cleaning and processing of critical procedural instruments, i.e., IAHCSMM, ASHCSP.
Minimum Work Experience
At least 3 years previous experience required. Previous lead experience preferred.
