Biomedical Engineer (Support Specialist) - Entry Level

Job Responsibilities

  1. Perform custom installations to establish functionality for complex radiotherapy and radiosurgery products.
  2. Resolve product issues through detailed analysis and utilization of engineering expertise.
  3. Update and service radiotherapy/radiosurgery products.
  4. Effectively communicate with customers to understand complex problems and adequately troubleshoot issues.
  5. Instruct users in calibration checks, surveys, and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment.
  6. Deliver high-level customer service.
  7. Read, analyze, interpret and follow signal flow on blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  8. Perform periodic preventative maintenance.
  9. Demonstrate and promote Oncology Solutions products and services at client meetings.
  10. Keep abreast of new developments regarding Brainlab and competitive Oncology Solutions products and services through training and independent research and analysis.
  11. Ability to travel 80%.


Qualifications

  1. B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or IT Technology required.
  2. Must be a self-starter, working without close supervision and be able to successfully manage service activities in assigned territory.
  3. Demonstrated engineering experience with medical devices.
  4. Computer expertise, familiarity, and demonstrated expertise with hardware troubleshooting.
  5. Able to apply critical thinking and perform analysis successfully under challenging conditions in a clinical environment.
  6. Knowledge of medical linear accelerator or microwave RF systems and computer networks preferred.
  7. Robotics and/or electro-mechanical systems service experience preferred.
  8. Proficiency in the use of test equipment and hand tools including oscilloscopes and multi-meters.
  9. Excellent organization and time management skills, and the ability to manage many work streams simultaneously.
  10. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  11. Professional and confident demeanor.
  12. Works well in a team environment and individually.
  13. Proactively approaches his/her contribution to the organization.
  14. Demonstrates leadership abilities.
  15. High comfort level with software and technology in general.
  16. Work safely in confined areas, including high current/high voltage modulators (20-50 kV, 1500A), and use peripheral vision to gauge distances. The confined areas have potential hand/arm ‘traps.’ Depth perception is critical.
  17. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work on ladders.
