CohnReznick currently has an exciting Virtual career opportunity, for an Associate to join our Government Contract Practice, based out of our Tysons, VA office. 

The Associate will work closely with client management to provide timely, efficient accounting and consulting support in the government contracting environment.  You will be responsible for preparation of the daily and monthly activities of our clients’ accounting departments as well as prepare and coordinate year end close and post-closing activities.  In addition, you will have responsibility to execute a wide range of advisory services on various ongoing special projects with our government contractor clients.  Normally this person will be working with 2-4 clients at any given time and performing time-management to prioritize the workload.

Responsibilities:

  • Enter and code Accounts Payable and prepare vendor payments
  • Prepare and analyze account reconciliations
  • Review employee expense reports and process payments
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Prepare and submit payroll through a third-party vendor
  • Assist with billings
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end financials
  • Participate in accounting process walkthroughs to assist with business system/internal controls gap assessments and policy and procedure development
  • Assist with incurred cost submission compilations and adequacy reviews
  • Assist with other projects as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • CPA license is preferred
  • 1-2 years of recent experience in the government contract sector
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint, Unanet and/or QuickBooks
  • Experience with ADP, Paychex or another payroll service provider is preferred
  • Must have experience in financial statement preparation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities
  • Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work as a team member or as an individual contributor
  • Must have strong customer service orientation; be able to maintain a professional demeanor, and work under pressure to handle critical issues in timely manner.
  • Effectively sets and meets expectations
  • Excellent relationship-building skills
  • U.S. Citizenship
