Sterile Processing Technician (Call-in, Varied Shifts)

Queen's Health System Honolulu, HI (Onsite) Full-Time
RESPONSIBILITIES

I
JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Performs supply processing and distribution functions according to prescribed procedures and techniques.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

- Standing, walking, stooping/bending, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds of force; static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.

- Frequent: kneeling, carrying weight of 20 pounds up to 40 pounds; reaching above, at and below shoulders.

- Occasional: sitting, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground; squatting, twisting body, repetitive arm/hand motions.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Some exposure to extreme hot or cold while in decontam, subjected to noise/vibration from steam gun and sterilizers.

- Frequently exposed to hazardous materials (detergents and antiseptic solutions); works with operating equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

- Academic background with courses in general and biologic science preferred.

- Successful completion of Central Service Training course preferred.

B
EXPERIENCE:

- One (1) year experience as a SP Aide or comparable work experience.

- Ability to understand procedures relating to sterile techniques and processing, infection control procedures, patient care equipment, supply functions and inventory control procedures.

- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English both orally and in writing.
