Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Director
Responsibilities will include business development, project management, team leadership, operations of Met Prep and Microscopy Laboratories, and performing detailed evaluations on all types of materials and metallurgical systems relating to failures, damage, defects, and maintenance and safety issues. Some assignments may include the analysis of personal injuries, product liability, aerospace issues, and design/installation issues. Assignments may also include deposition/expert testimony.
We are currently interviewing for a Metallurgical and Materials Engineer with a PE license to join our team in Stevensville, MD.
Primary Duties:
- Inspection, analysis, and root cause evaluation of mechanical failures, damages, and defects
- Client interaction and development
- Perform any necessary price and technical research
- Write reports and present to clients in addition to other parties as necessary
- Travel to required locations for either site inspection or trial/expert witness requirements
- Perform marketing meetings with various clients
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy and/or Materials Engineering from an accredited University
- PE license is required
- 7+ years’ practical experience in forensic investigation/engineering with an emphasis on investigation of metallurgy and materials issues
- Direct diagnostic and problem-solving experience
- Working/practical knowledge of fire origin and cause, materials engineering, and/or other disciplines is a plus
- Past deposition and/or trial testimony experience
Required Skills include:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in confined spaces as needed
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently, as well as lead and work in multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft-based computer programs, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Organized with the ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to clearly articulate findings to clients both verbally and in written form
- Confidence/charisma for public speaking engagements to small and large groups
- Ability to interact socially and at mixed engagements with clients
- Proficiency in a language other than English is a plus
