Job Title: Director of Youth Programs
Location: San Joaquin County, Stockton, CA
Position Type: Full-Time, 1 FTE (40 hours per week)
Compensation: $75,000 - $83,000 (depending on experience)

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as the Director of Youth Programs. At AAAWLC, we believe in the power of community and are committed to creating environments where individuals and families can reach their fullest potential.
Project Descriptions:
The Director of Youth Programs will oversee two cornerstone initiatives within our organization:
- Wonka's Crib: A commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for youth aged 12-18 within San Joaquin County. Through comprehensive programming and a community-centered approach, Wonka's Crib provides the tools and resources necessary for youth to thrive, encouraging personal growth and the development of leadership skills. Services include mentorship, mental health support, educational workshops, and recreational activities.
- Black Youth Protecting Black Peace (BYPBP): This project aims to address critical gaps in the mental health landscape for Black youth in San Joaquin County. Focusing on youth aged 12-18, BYPBP seeks to ensure that institutional and systemic policies address the root causes of mental health challenges and provide Black youth with trauma-informed and culturally responsive services.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Director of Youth Programs, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure the success and sustainability of both Wonka's Crib and the BYPBP projects. Your role will involve:
- Strategic Leadership and Program Development: Drive the development and execution of program objectives that align with AAAWLC's mission and vision.
- Oversee Program Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of both programs, ensuring a secure, inclusive, and supportive environment for staff, volunteers, and youth.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a dedicated team of program managers, staff, and volunteers.
- Community Engagement and Partnership Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, organizations, and partners.
- Policy Advocacy and Coalition Building: Lead policy advocacy efforts at the city and county levels.
- Grant Management and Fundraising: Oversee the grant writing process and actively pursue funding opportunities.
- Crisis Management and Intervention: Provide crisis management and intervention support when necessary.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Implement systematic evaluation processes to assess program outcomes.
- Public Relations and Outreach: Represent AAAWLC and its youth programs at public forums, community events, and media opportunities.
- Cultural Sensitivity and Inclusion: Ensure that all program activities and interactions are culturally sensitive and inclusive.
- Sustainability Planning: Develop and implement strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability of both programs.
Desired Qualifications:
We’re seeking a dynamic and passionate leader who excels in relationship-building, is results-oriented, and possesses strong project management skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Nonprofit Management, Public Health, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
- Extensive Program Management Experience: Proven experience in program management, particularly within youth-oriented initiatives.
- Leadership and Organizational Skills: Strong leadership abilities with a history of fostering team growth and program excellence.
- Expertise in Trauma-Informed Practices: A thorough understanding of trauma-informed practices.
- Community Engagement and Policy Advocacy: Experience in community organizing, policy advocacy, and coalition building.
- Cultural Competency and Inclusivity: Strong cultural competency with an understanding of the diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds of the youth served.
- Grant Writing and Fundraising: Experience in grant writing and fundraising, with a proven track record of securing funding.
