HR Generalist

Service Express Grand Rapids, MI Full-Time
We are seeking an HR Generalist to join our company at an exciting and fast-growing time! This is a key role within our HR team that will enable you to support and fulfill departmental administrative needs while also finding and championing for efficiency opportunities.

To be successful in this role, you must be able to effectively prioritize deliverables and deadlines. It’s an opportunity to partner on broad HR responsibilities including employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy interpretation and implementation, and employment law compliance.

Here’s What This Position Is All About

Employee Relations and Compliance

  • Assist regularly with employee relations and any investigation assistance necessary
  • Support HR Business Partners with documentation and administrative needs such as performance management, exit process, pay data information, job descriptions, and customer compliance requirements for service
  • Maintain all administrative compliance requirements for both State and Federal including PTO, Severance, FMLA, ACA 1095s, OSHA Form 300s, EEOC, and MVR
  • Own employee offboarding process by conducting exit interviews, analyzing and preparing data points for recommendations in order to minimize turnover and increase engagement, and responding to Unemployment claims when applicable
  • Maintain job descriptions, partake in job analyses process to establish the specific requirements of individual jobs within each department for the creation and oversight of job descriptions, and update systems as applicable including HRIS and Payscale
  • Prepare and maintain employee handbook, policies, and procedures
  • Keep up to date on industry trends and employment legislation to ensure organizational compliance; create reports as needed to reflect findings and recommended actions for continuous improvement
  • Participate and facilitate training as appropriate; maintain personnel file requirements
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees with the goal of minimizing legal risk and ensuring regulatory compliance

Benefits Support and Administration

  • Support day-to-day benefit administrative needs and employee questions
  • Partner with HR team, brokers, and benefit carriers to provide health, 401k, PTO, relocation, and other benefit offerings to employees across 30+ states including HRIS and carrier portal administration
  • Prepare and present communication offerings including intranet pages, Benefit Guides, and Onboarding sessions
  • Engage in new hire onboarding process and act as dedicated support for new team members across the organization
  • Serve as administrative lead for benefits administration and HR departmental invoicing
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations

What we are hoping you can bring to the Service Express team:

  • Proven HR experience in compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, performance management, DEI, and/or federal and state employment laws
  • Bachelors in Business Administration or HR as well as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Suite and HRIS required; exposure to systems similar to ADP, Cornerstone, Samba Safety/Qorta and Payscale is ideal but not mandatory
