(FACILITY ENGINEER) MAINTENANCE  ENGINEER

Job Summary:

Process Engineer responsible for Chemical Plant engineering and Process Safety Management Program at a Hazardous Waste Treatment and Distillation facility. Responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring processing plans and process improvements for reclaim operations, projects regarding expansion of existing and/or new facility(s), and providing assistance to plant operations personnel to include troubleshooting distillation separation, production of reclaimed solvent product, and site equipment problems.  Interact with appropriate governmental regulatory agencies and insure compliance in environmental, health and safety issues and requirements at the federal, state, and local regulatory levels.   At the direction of immediate supervisor, interfaces with customers and regulators during facility audits, inspections, etc.        

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

•         Extensive knowledge in processing methodologies

•         Computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite

•         Strong team player

•         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

•         Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines

•         Strong customer orientation

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


•         Analyzes solvent distillation unit performance, recommending process improvements (including capital project or maintenance expense justification).

•         Supports inspection programs including equipment, engineering, and process hazard analysis.

•         Prepares engineering specs and bid packages for equipment and construction.

•         Solicits and evaluates bids for equipment and construction (both capital and expense projects)

•         Develops, configures and optimizes industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification

•         Assess processes, take measurements and interpret data

•         Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes

•         Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output

•         Performs process simulations

•         Develops ROI models

•         Knowledge and aptitude to work in a PLC-based process control system. 

•         Manages cost and time constraints

•         Performs risk assessments

•         Provides process documentation and operating instructions

•         Manages the plant Process Safety Management (PSM) program

•         Supports other cross functional departments (e.g., EHS, Maintenance, Operations, etc.)

•         Good team player with excellent communication skills

Education/Experience:

•         BS in Chemical Engineering or related discipline required

•         5 to 6 years in a chemical industry or related work experience preferred

Certification/Licenses:

•         PE License is a plus

Certification/Licenses:

 Valid drivers license

 OSHA HAZWOPER Certification
