Salaried Part-Time Paraprofessional Teacher's Aide

Hoboken Board of Education Hoboken, NJ (Onsite) Part-Time
The Hoboken Public Schools Department of Early Childhood Education is accepting applications for part-time paraprofessional aides. Paraprofessional teachers' aides provide valuable assistance to teachers and students. Part-time paraprofessionals who successfully complete the application and interview processes are offered a ten-month salary, union membership, NJ state pension retirement contribution matching, and extensive training. Paraprofessionals pursuing full-time teaching positions have the additional benefit of the opportunity to develop and expand his or her experience in education while enhancing skills and knowledge. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply and will be invited to interview with the Supervisor of Early Childhood Education pending a successful initial application review.

Responsibilities

Assist in the classroom under the guidance of a certified teacher, including:

* Implement directions, plans, and schedules as directed by the classroom teacher
* Support the Tools of the Mind Curriculum
* Lead small group activities
* Apply strategies, accommodations, and modifications for students
* Participate in classroom routine
* Supervise students' practice of skills
* Assist with room arrangement, activity centers, and field trips
* Respect and maintain confidentiality
* Supervise students in the hallways and during gross motor activities
* Maintain files and records as directed by the teacher
* Maintain punctuality and consistent attendance
* Exhibit professional attitudes
* Follow school procedures and policies
* Other duties as required by teacher or administrator

Requirements & Qualifications

* Completion of two years (60 credits) of study at an accredited institution of higher learning or Associate's Degree (or higher)
* Child Development Associates (CDA) or Equivalent recommended
* Criminal history background check
* Proof of US citizenship or resident alien status

Compensation

Per HSEA contract and commensurate with experience and qualification
