Primary Responsibilities:

• Understand and interpret key drivers of health care trends


• Conduct and evaluate benchmarks and other studies on utilization and health care costs


• Design and run complex data programs to perform mathematical analyses and actuarial modeling


• Analyze trends and forecasts and translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences including senior leaders


• Manage the development of models and tools to support our national team


• Mentor and help develop our team of actuaries and help them create unique solutions to complex problems

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience


• 5+ years of actuarial experience


• 4+ actuarial exams


• Basic or higher level of proficiency with SAS (Statistical Analysis System) and/or SQL (Structured Query Language)


• Expertise working with formulas, calculations, charts, graphs in MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation


• Experience working in finance or the health care industry


• Experience in Medicare Advantage


• Solid written and verbal communication skills

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
