Position Summary:

A “hands-on” product engineering team leader and owner of design verification, product validation and R&D laboratory supervision.  Instrumental to the process of product development, the ability to achieve customer specifications, and the sustainability of product quality throughout its life cycle.  The Test Engineer II role influences product design and commercialization through the individual contributions in technical problem solving and testing, and the leadership of projects and R&D lab management.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of product development R&D lab for UV Curing Equipment test and validation.
    • Oversee and plan the use of equipment, capabilities and resources for all lab functions.
  • Develop and implement test processes, procedures and documentation standards for test planning and execution.
  • Contribute to Design Specification requirements for testability to facilitate design verification and product validation tests and schedules.
  • Lead design failure mode effects analysis (DFMEA) reviews and evaluations and documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with mechanical and electrical product development engineers.
  • Collect data and perform engineering analysis from the testing of electromechanical products.
  • Author engineering reports that summarize the data and data analytics used for the experiment, and clearly presents a conclusion against the functional and design specifications.
  • Plan and coordinate outside test services for compliance testing and special test needs.
  • Supervise, coach, and professionally develop assigned engineering technicians
  • Assist marketing and application engineering by contributing technical inputs for manuals and bulletins.
    • Provide validated content for operation, graphs and tabulated content as required.
  • Possible travel to customers, test facilities, and professional development seminars (<10%)

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BSME or BSEE) required
  • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience in electromechanical design verification testing.
  • Expertise in analytical skills with solid engineering fundamentals is a must.
  • Proficiency in statistical test methods and Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of electromechanical laboratory equipment and instrumentation such as data acquisition tools, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, thermal chambers and other electronic test apparatus.  
  • Proven ability to self-teach, work independently and draw meaningful results/conclusions.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to lead others and collaborate in team environment.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral, for professional reports and presentations.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Supervise, coach, and professionally develop assigned engineering technicians
