Job Description

Job Summary (State overall purpose of the job in 2-3 sentences)
Compiles, classifies, records, verifies, processes, and maintains data and payments for financial accounting. 
Essential Job Duties (Most important job duties explained clearly and concisely)
Performs a wide variety of routine and some non-routine clerical accounting functions in one or more the following areas:  general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and/or related financial areas.  May perform all or a portion of the essential job duties listed.

•        Processes, sorts, copies, records, and files financial transactions and other accounting information to maintain and process accounting records. Compiles reports on cash receipts, accounts payable/receivable, expenditures, profit and loss, etc. and determines accuracy. 

•        Posts records into system; debits or credits accounts.  Calculates amounts due, interest, taxes, ratios, etc.  Processes vouchers, invoices, account statements, etc.  Generates payments and invoices.  

•        Generates standard reports and distributes; may develop queries; assists in resolving discrepancies; researches accounts as needed.

•        Verifies financial documentation; authorizes payment/financial transaction in compliance with Lance policies and procedures; seeks authorization approval as required.

•        Reconciles account balances; provides bank notifications and wires; prepares bank reports; prepares and processes daily cash deposits; completes cash control process.  Reconciles bank statements as required.

•        Reviews and posts receipts and payments to appropriate system ledgers, spreadsheets, records, and databases.  Monitors accounts to ensure payments are accurate and timely. 

•        Responds to inquiries; investigates issues and provides summary documentation; reviews with management; follows up as necessary.

•        Mails invoices, receipts, checks, correspondence, filings, and other requested items. 

•        Assists with monthly and annual closings.

•        Maintains system with customer files, records, etc.; updates as required.

•        May provide technical assistance to others; train, assign, and review work of others.

•        May perform other duties as required.

Minimal supervision; work often done independently by following practices and procedures while frequently having worked checked.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements (Knowledge, skills, and abilities normally required for competent performance in the job – writing skills, communication skills, analytical skills, attention to detail, license, specific technical skills, etc.  List licenses or professional certifications required for the job.)
Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common data.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Uses intuition and experience to complement data.  Ability to exercise discretion while managing confidential information.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of Word Processing software, Spreadsheet software, and Internet software.
Education and Experience (Minimum and preferred educational requirements, years of experience needed to successfully perform the job – High School or GED, High School plus specialized vocation or technical education, college degree)
High School diploma or GED equivalent; plus more than 4 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
