Software Quality Assurance Engineer 

TerraPower, LLC is seeking to contract with a highly motivated Software Quality Assurance Engineer.  The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will report to the Director, ESH&Q and is responsible for the development and implementation of the Software Quality Assurance Program. This position requires knowledge and understanding to software records management as it pertains to software development life cycle and Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) as well as Information Technology Systems (IT).  This candidate will guide others in the understanding and implementation of quality software principles and procedures.


  • Facilitating, managing, and expanding our Software QA policy, program description, and implementing procedures compliant with ASME NQA-1-2015, NRC RG 1.28, and applicable NIRMA Technical Guides, as well as any additional requirements necessary for nuclear software records management.
  • Maintain and support the internal procedures governing the software development activities.
  • Review software documentation for content and accuracy against software quality requirements
  • Provide support and oversight for software commercial grade dedication activities
  • Provides training and support to effectively implement the Software QA Program.
  • Perform surveillances and/or reviews of the software testing and release process.
  • Participate and lead QA software assessments and audits.
  • Analyzes existing software applications in accordance with the overall software quality program, including plant engineering.
  • Reviews test strategy, test procedure, and test plan for project developed and acquired software applications and configuration management
  • Evaluate and recommends software design and testing strategies, and configuration management strategies, and software metric development to assist with surveillance planning
  • Assists users in developing strategies to resolve software quality issues.

Key Qualifications and Skills 

  • B.S. degree in technical discipline, engineering, business, or equivalent related work experience may be considered.
  • At least 5 years of experience in software development lifecycle, Quality Assurance and Configuration Management in a regulated environment implementing ASME NQA-1-2015, subpart 2.7, NRC RG1.28, DOE G 414.1-4, NIRMA Technical Guides.
  • ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer or ability to obtain the certification within the first year of employment highly desired.
  • Experience with the development and/or maintenance of software requirements definition, testing, and documentation.
  • Experience with Electronic Document Management Systems (e.g., Agile, DevonWay, Documentum)
  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycle tools (e.g., version control, continuous integration, unit testing, integration testing, requirements management, coverage checking, linters, etc.
  • Preferred to have experience performing auditing and/ or surveillances.
  • Ability to interface with internal/external customers to resolve quality issues.
  • Ability to plan and implement methods for process improvement and trouble-shooting issues.
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Understanding concepts of Configuration Management.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and maintain good working relationship with peers and Customers of all technical levels.
  • Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task, good problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork
  • Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.
