SUMMARY

The Senior Pharmacy Technician under the direction of a Pharmacist assists the Pharmacy Supervisor with coordinating the work of the Pharmacy Technician. Also assists with orientation and training of new employees. Must be competent in the compounding and dispensing of medications, under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, to the following age groups of patients: Neonatal, Pediatric, Adult and Geriatric. Prepare the admixtures for large volume parenterals, piggyback containers, chemotherapy agent and total parenteral nutrition, using the proper aseptic techniques, under a laminar flow hood.

QUALIFICATIONS

* High School Diploma or GED Certification with two (2) years successful hospital pharmacy technician experience
* Completed an ASHP accredited pharmacy technician-training program
* Have One (1) year of experience at Grady Health System in a pharmacy
* Have One (1) of experience in a pharmacy outside of Grady Health System
* Must be a Registered Technician with the State of Georgia by 6/1/2011
* IV experience, chemotherapy highly desired
* Pharmacy Technician PTCB Certification required
* Organization and accurate record keeping skills
* Basic computer data entry skills required and typing approximately 30 wpm
