The Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa invites applications for a full-time, extramural-funded, non-tenure-track faculty position. Subject to position clearance, satisfactory performance, and availability of funds, this position is intended to start in the Spring 2025 semester. The University of Hawai'i at Manoa is a Carnegie Research 1 university with a strong emphasis on research and graduate education. The Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, and its undergraduate program is ABET accredited. Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach a minimum of 3 courses per semester, or 6 courses per academic year. The number of courses taught will depend on the time required to perform the duties of the faculty in achieving the objectives of the Construction Engineering program. In so far as possible, the courses should include some or all of the following topics or any other suitable topics that will better prepare students for a career in infrastructure construction:
- Construction Estimating and Bidding (CEE 474)
- Construction Planning and Scheduling (CEE 476)
- Construction Project Management (CEE 472)
- Construction Methods (CEE 471)
- Construction Equipment and Methods (CEE 473)
- Construction Law (CEE 479)
- Construction Safety (CEE 478)
The faculty member will assist in the curriculum development for the current Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Construction Engineering, as well as advising the University on curriculum content for a potentially new Construction Management degree or certificate program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least three years of experience in construction engineering, construction management or related field.
- A Ph.D. degree in civil engineering, construction management, architecture or related field.
- Experience teaching construction engineering courses at the University level.
- Professional engineer license.
- Licensed architect.
- At least five years of upper management level construction/architecture experience.
- Familiarity with the Hawaii construction engineering and/or management industry.
- Experience in program and curriculum development of a construction engineering program.
