Working with the Environmental Emergency Response group as an Environmental Scientist in our Baton Rouge
office this position offers a variety of work:
•Support project teams on a variety of environmental emergency response projects involving hazardous materials (haz-mat)•Assist with data collection, investigation, remediation and technical reporting of environmental projects with a strong focus in Emergency Response and subsurface investigations •Perform environmental field work such as monitoring well installation, groundwater monitoring, soil & surface water sampling and collection of air samples •Required to be on an “on-call” personnel rotation• Required to have strong verbal and written communication skills•Provide support for emergency response field effortsWhat you will bring to the team:
•Bachelors' degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Health & Safety or related field •3 years of previous experience in an environmental related field• Previous demonstrable experience responding to spill and/or haz-mat related events on a 24/7/365 basis is a plus•Ability to perform field work and willingness to travel > 70% of the time •Excellent mechanical & electrical aptitude•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook •Previous Railroad and/or Oil & Gas spill response experience is a plus •OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER training is also a plus •Strong attention to detail and accuracy•Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet project timelines •Self-motivated and willingness to work as a team in a fast-paced environment
