As the Meeting and Event Manager you will coordinate all aspects of corporate business meetings and events for Southern Careers Institute. In addition, you will seek out opportunities to showcase our company at various events, arrange meeting space and support services for events, negotiate contracts with suppliers, and coordinate plans with on-site staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop unique event opportunities using social media to generate interest in programs for various campus locations;
  • Research into potential recruitment, brand awareness, and community events;
  • Plan, coordinate and successfully execute both internal and external events;
  • Solicit bids from places and service providers (i.e. hotels, caterers, entertainment);
  • Coordinate online webinars for appropriate audiences as needed;
  • Coordinate with campus staff to determine appropriate strategic plan for events;
  • Develop planning and training tools;
  • Track budget costs throughout course of event/meeting;
  • Plan the scope of the event, including time, location, program, and cost, considering the audience attending and the budget constraints;
  • Inspect places to ensure they meet the requirements of the potential event/meeting;
  • Confer with on-site staff to coordinate details;
  • Prepare cost estimates and monitors final billing;
  • Provide clear, concise, and timely communication of detailed requirements to operational departments. Assist in scheduling operational set-ups to provide equipment or service needs. Monitor and supervise facility set-up when necessary;
  • Assist in training event services staff;
  • Aggressively gather information on each event to achieve quality event productions;
  • Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters;
  • Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study;
  • Minimum 1 year experience in related field;
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite and event planning tools;
  • Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the even coordinating field.
