Job Description:

The Graduate School at The Ohio State University invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Excellence in Graduate and Postdoctoral Training (EGPT).

The Associate Dean for Excellence in Graduate and Postdoctoral Training will be a collaborative and innovative leader who will develop and implement strategies to recruit, retain, and advance the training and scholarship of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars at Ohio State. The Associate Dean will be responsible for providing leadership and supervision of Graduate School staff associated with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion office, Fellowship Services, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, and the Strategic Trainee Proposal Development program.

More specifically, this Associate Dean will:

* Lead a multi-faceted team within the Graduate School to develop and implement strategies that will recruit and retain talented and diverse graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to Ohio State; create and implement competitive funding strategies to financially support graduate and postdoctoral trainee populations; and promote graduate and postdoctoral trainee scholarly productivity and impact through tailored programming and engagement opportunities.

* Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), Fellowship Services Manager, Directors of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, and the Faculty Director of the Strategic Trainee Proposal Development program.

* Represent the Graduate School on various internal and external committees and taskforces and serve as a member of Graduate School operations team.

* Foster the development of relationships across the Ohio State system and with external partners to progress the mission and strategic initiatives of the Graduate School.

* Instill a culture of staff development and growth in alignment with the professional development goals of Graduate School staff reporting to the Associate Dean.

* Review and recommend policies, processes, and programs that benefit graduate and postdoctoral trainee experiences and advance their scholarly eminence.

* Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice Provost and Dean for Graduate Education.

Required and Desired Qualifications:

Required:

An earned doctorate is required. In addition, the following experience is required:

* Excellent written and oral communication skills.

* Demonstrated commitment to DEI and experience in advancing initiatives, practices, and/or policies to meet DEI goals.

* Demonstrated experience and success in building and leading collaborative, inclusive, and highly effective teams.

* Demonstrated experience in budget management.

Desired:

* Demonstrated experience in graduate student recruitment and retention activities or enrollment management
* Evidence of leading innovation and change to improve recruitment and retention outcomes for graduate and postdoctoral trainees
* Proven track record of advocating for the development and/or modification of policies, processes, and programs that benefit the trainee experience and advance scholarly eminence
* Experience with research and grant administration; knowledge of, and experience with, federal, state, or private agency sponsors
* Demonstrated commitment to staff professional development

Additional Information:

The pay range for this job profile is $155,000 - $175,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
