Lead Finance Accounting Specialist

Temple University Philadelphia, PA (On Site) Full-Time
The Lead Finance/Accounting Specialist is essential in running the daily operations for the Controller's Office. The Lead Finance/Accounting Specialist must be a subject matter expert in their area, particularly the general ledger and balance sheet accounts. The Lead Finance/Accounting Specialist requires knowledge of the general operations in higher education. They must perform accounting reconciliations and provide support for the entire Controller's Office Team. The senior accountant provides support for not only the monthly, quarterly, and yearly closes, but also helps with providing information for the yearly audit. The Lead Finance/Accounting Specialist develops and implements accounting procedures for the Controller's Office. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and at least three (3) years of related accounting experience. Experience performing accounting reconciliations and provide support for the staff. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and advanced knowledge of Excel.
* Ability to perform mid-level general ledger accounting reconciliations.
* Strong organization and time management skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks.
* Demonstrated ability to prepare Excel worksheets, analysis and general ledger account reconciliations.
* Capacity to develop excellent analytical and quantitative skills, including the ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data.
* Ability to work effectively with a variety of audiences to include both functional and technical peers as well as the University community.
* Aptitude to learn and utilize automated accounting and reporting systems.

Preferred:

* Microsoft Teams experience
* Banner experience
* MBA

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
