Who We Are:

The Contracts Department is divided into several different groups including the Central Proposal Office, the Pricing Group, Contract Administration, the Data Group, the Credit Group, and Government Property Administration.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Serve as a Transactional Attorney providing legal advice on research contracts in a high-volume deadline-driven environment

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Review research contracts for terms and conditions
  • Provide legal analysis of issues
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on conflict of interest issues
  • support the negotiation of contract terms and conditions
  • Research legal issues
  • Develop and conduct educational programs and write correspondence and other documents related to transactional and conflict of interest matters; prepare contract templates
  • Provide legal position on contract risks to Executive Management and Institute staff
  • Coordinate with General Counsel as needed


  • Requires a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree with license to practice law in the state of Texas and a membership in the State of Texas Bar Association
  • Minimum of 2 years of legal experience in the area of contractual matters
  • Government contracting experience is beneficial
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required

Special Requirements:

Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
