J Harlan Group is currently conducting a search for a Cloud Platform Engineer for a Global Asset Management firm in Philadelphia.

A great opportunity for a strong Python - Object Oriented / AWS technologist with a desire to work within the investment environment for a global asset manager and enjoy seeing, firsthand, how their efforts contribute to the business.

Leveraging your strong software engineering and cloud skills you will work with modern technologies deploying microservices to the cloud.

Principal Responsibilities:

As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will deliver software solutions which empower their people and clients to innovate and invest for a better future. Collaborating with colleagues across the globe, you'll work with a variety of modern technologies all built on our cloud-based infrastructure.

• You'll have the satisfaction of seeing the software development process through from start to finish and the impact of your solutions as they bring opportunities to life. You will be involved in the full process from understanding the opportunity and the business case, through to prototyping requirements and delivering the final solution. You'll design, make technology decisions, ensure security by design, code, document, test performance, and provide support. There is no aspect that you won't be involved with.
• You'll contribute to their modern and collaborative engineering team using CI/CD, BDD, code quality and monitoring.
• You'll build data & control pipelines across a variety of technologies (Python, Go, Kubernetes and AWS, GCP) using event-driven messaging and APIs.

The ideal candidate would have a background including:

• Proven engineering skills with the ability to work in Python, Go and Ruby using AWS to build pipelines and microservices.
• Skilled in using and provisioning Kubernetes.
• Working knowledge of relational database with SQL and/or non-relation database
• Strong understanding of core Cloud Native Computing Foundation and its major projects
• Comfortable proposing designs, gather feedback from others, build solutions with reusability in mind and documenting / explaining how the solution works.
• Comprehension of security, including authentication and authorization.
• Familiarity with Linux, Shell Scripting, load balancing and basic networking.
• Building solutions considering user experience, automation, security, performance, resilience, cost, scale, and reusability
