VMware / Citrix Engineer job in Houston at The Jupiter Group

This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior resource with VMware, Citrix and advanced server knowledge.  Client needs someone with strong VMware Horizon experience, able to solve problems with scripting using PowerShell and overall server knowledge. Critical role, interviewing immediately for this position in Northwest Houston.  

• Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining Horizon View in an enterprise environment.
• Architect, design, and implement new VDI initiatives in VMware Horizon.
• Troubleshoot and support DEM, App Volumes, and complex end user issues within a VDI environment.
• Proficient use with monitoring tools and applications, specifically as it relates to VMware vSphere and Horizon View. (Ex. vROps)
• Maintain and administer the VMWare virtual environment (7.0 preferred)
• Perform activities that support user needs, including determining user rights & levels, conducting compatibility testing for new equipment, making system updates/ upgrades, troubleshooting systems equipment & connectivity issues, and scheduling & testing of update packages. Creating and maintenance of Virtual Images.
• Proven experience with software packaging and deployment. (SCCM/AppV)
• Write and maintain system documentation.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or associated studies is preferred
• 3 years VMware Horizon View, DEM, App Volumes, vSphere, ESXi, SCCM
• 3 years’ experience supporting a large enterprise environment in a 24x7 high availability scenario and proven working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting VMWare and Citrix virtualization products.
• Experience supporting and administration of Citrix Netscaler is desired
• Experience supporting and administration Zerto is desired
• Experience using Ansible or other configuration management tools
• Experience with monitoring and logging in a production environment using Splunk
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to do so in a stressful situation 
• Must have good scripting skills, able to solve issues through the use of PowerShell or Python
• Software and Patch Management deployment for OS and all other supported applications
