Systems Safety Engineer with Security Clearance

As the System Safety Engineer you will be responsible for policy and guidance for materiel research, development, and acquisition which ensure timely and systematic application of system safety. The System Safety Engineer I will identify and analyze risks and hazards associated with the system designs to make them safe during operation and to ensure that the systems will remain available, operational, and effective. This is a critical position on the Nuclear Weapon (NW) Surety Program who maintains overall program awareness related to system safety requirements. As the System Safety Engineer, you will... * Analyze and perform assessment on all safety hazards and recommend improvements to all human factor engineering processes and ensure optimal integration of safety features on designs. * Coordinate with system hardware and software engineering process associated with all use cases and determine all hardware/software safety requirements and prepare required presentation for all safety evaluation meetings. * Conduct Safety Analyses and documenting results (Preliminary Hazards List/Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, Functional Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Safety Assessment Report) * Perform code analyses to determine whether code is safety significant * Document hazards and maintaining Hazard Tracking System * Develop Software Safety Requirements and providing requirements analysis and flow-down of Safety requirements and attributes in the Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) * Represent System Safety Engineering and presenting results of safety analyses at formal program design reviews What you bring to the table... * BS/BA in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or a Technical (STEM) discipline * 5+ years technical experience as a System Safety Engineer, Software Engineer, Systems Engineer or equivalent, on a major weapon/combat system or a complex hardware/software development program. * Experience and familiarity with Safety Engineering and Safety Design concepts * Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active DoD Secret Clearance to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS clearance. Bonus Points for... * Operational experience with U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, or Air Force combat/weapon systems and Ordnance. * Experience with a wide application of technical theories and concepts related to system safety engineering and combat/weapon systems design. * Experience with Nuclear Weapon System Safety Program per OPNAVINST 8110.18 * Knowledge of MIL-HDBK-454, MIL-STD-1427, MIL-STD-1474, MIL-STD-464, Joint Software Systems Safety Committee (JSSSC) Handbook, and MIL-STD-1425. * Experience Software System Safety Technical Review Panels (SSSTRP) or Software Materiel Release activities.
