What you will do:
You will supervise 2 directs and report to the Director of Engineering & Maintenance
You will be primarily responsible for project development, design, application, and implementation of capital projects.
You will make decisions concerning plant layouts, equipment selections, project schedules, and cost requirements.
You will be required to determine specifications for each project and work with company affiliated engineers to ensure drawings are accurate, as applicable to each project, and maintain timelines to ensure project completion on schedule, while complying with federal and state regulations.
You will serve as manager for respective projects regarding building construction, processing systems, and equipment needs/layouts.
Projects will cover capital expansion (ex; cooler upgrade, kill floor expansion, warehouse expansion, etc.)
You will ensure consistencies of company specifications are followed for all projects.
You will prepare Capital Appropriation Requests to include development of project scope, justification, detailed cost estimate, and project savings calculations.
You will secure Certified engineering support as required
You will develop budget for new projects (estimated about $20 mil average)
You will be conducting the sourcing of equipment, vendors, and materials for projects
You will do all Planning /Preparation of project timelines
Manage inter-departmental reviews, signoffs and planning for project installations
Manage project installations
Manage 3rd party contractors associated with project installations
Obtain and evaluate proposals for capital equipment purchases and mechanical, electrical, and civil work.
Coordinate and direct installation of equipment and services with suppliers, contractors, production & maintenance personnel, and USDA officials.
Maintain files, CAD prints and required documentation of all projects
Recommend design changes, analyzing and presenting the pros and cons of the changes on the project.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What you must have:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably in one of the following areas: Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, or Electrical) from a regionally accredited college or university required.
A minimum of 5 years of Project Engineering experience in the food processing industry is required (Processed meat manufacturing experience preferred).
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently.
Ability to manage projects from conception to turn key.
Ability to handle multiple duties and projects simultaneously.
Strong team and personal leadership skills.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization using written and verbal presentation skills.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, PLC, boiler systems, and refrigeration systems.
Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD required, working knowledge of Word and Excel.
