The Specialty Lines Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting accounting management, assists in the formulation of internal controls and processes and supervises accounting staff.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises specialty accounting staff including the following areas: operational accounting, reconciliations and other areas
  • Manages aspects of the general ledger including the preparation of journal entries
  • Ability to establish, document and maintain internal controls and processes
  • Assesses processes and recommends and executes process efficiencies
  • Establishes and maintains accounting checklists and timelines
  • Ensures adherence to account reconciliation procedures and policies
  • Supervises preparation of external reporting footnotes
  • Performs technical accounting research and assists with the development of accounting policies
  • Assists in preparation of materials and communications with external tax accountants and auditors
  • Assists in analyzing performance, expense trends and other similar matters
  • Assists in selection, training and evaluating staff to enhance their performance and development.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of accounting principles based on GAAP and accounting best practices
  • Detail oriented and organized in work and ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude with good organization and time management skills
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Able to work in a fast-paced and agile environment
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, and management to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
  • Proficiency in an accounting ERP system(s) preferred

Industry and Work Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Banking experience required
  • Knowledge of General Ledger and MS Office applications
  • Experience in mining data from DataMart preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills preferred


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • CPA preferred
